Increase Customer Confidence Gain ISO Certification Using An AS9100 Consultant

Business management is a constantly shifting field as leaders seek the most effective way to run a company in the pursuit of success. From 1070 forward, the movement was in the understanding and implementation of a solid quality management program. With so many different ideas of what such a program really is, an as9100 consultant is crucial to gaining recognition as an ISO compliant organization.

Many associate the beginning of the so-called quality movement with the decade from 1970 to 1980, following the surprise and meteoric rise in Japanese products sold in America, from stereos to automobiles. In addition to the emotional and political outcry at the time, a serious search began to identify how the shift to foreign products had occurred. The notion of quality management was immediately seized upon, and a series of process promulgated.

It was quickly determined that the process at work was a form of quality management, and that the genesis of the very successful implementation was two American management experts. Doctor Joseph Juran believed that engaged leadership was essential to company success, a notion American companies resisted. Doctor W. Edwards Deming believed a key to manufacturing success was the consistency born of statistical process control.

Throughout all the various ways to implement a focus on quality there is a central theme that has fundamentally changed the definition of quality and the method for incorporating into a business. It is the notion that quality is defined by the customer, and consistency in product or service is the implementation key. While consistency alone does not yield quality, a quality product or service must be produced consistently.

The development of ISO standards began in 1946, and were meant as guidelines for international products and services. The name ISO comes from the Greek word isos, meaning equal, and thus if two products meet the same standard, they should be equal. While they have been around for some time, it was not until the release of the ISO 9000 standards in 1987 that they gained global acceptance and adoption.

The aviation industry has long had an enviable safety record, largely due to the near military dedication to checklist usage. From maintenance to passenger and cargo loading, fueling and flying, companies have used checklists for every step, ensuring a high degree of consistency. Standardization has long been a central ingredient to flight and the results have been excellent.

The aviation standard addresses every part of the delivery of air transportation, including employee training and documentation, passenger and cargo operations and the actual aircraft operation and maintenance. This is a very large and complex set of processes that must all operate in harmony for the consumer to receive comfortable timely air travel. It also helps companies focus on things the consumer interests while keeping the business efficient.

But in the world of ISO certification, there are high standards which must be met in every aspect, from documentation to execution, and that is difficult to implement and maintain. The value of going through the certification process is to ensure customers and partners alike that they are getting the very best. An as9100 consultant can lead most efficiently to such success.
