Uses Of The Synthetic Compressor Oil In Marine Jobs

By Eugenia Dickerson

Every engine and machine uses one or more types of synthetic compressor oil for its maintenance and smooth functioning. Marine machines like motor boats, ships, submarines etc. Need to be taken care of a lot more carefully as they need to function in water. Many lives can be at risk if the lubricant is not up to the mark, making it necessary to ensure better protection and lubrication.

There are different types of synthetic and mineral oils that are meant to protect the machines from hot and cold temperatures. The other key functions are to increase the efficiency of each part of the machine by- supressing foaming, releasing the trapped air and rapidly separating out the condensed water. Lubricants also ensure that the working of the machine is following the design and process it is supposed to.

Different parts of the whole machine demand different types of lubricants. Keeping in mind the different variants that are requires, different brands have come up with different oils that go well with all parts of the machine. The engines require high speed oils which will help in increasing the engine life and protect its components from the different pressure and temperature situations.

There is a different type of lubricant that goes into the stern tube of the marine structure. The oils needs to emulsify with sea waters and protect them from rust and corrosion. This lubricating film keeps the stern tube protected and increases its life in severe operating hours.

Turbo chargers require a different type of oil that can increase the performance levels of the machine. The use of a good lubricant for turbo chargers can ensure the free and smooth working of the engines and also a safe environment to the workers. If a good lubricant is used for the turbo chargers, it can also lead to cleaner compressors.

For all the refrigeration compressors that are present in almost every marine machine, there are a range of oils that are present in the market. They are formulated and created to perform in extreme temperatures and high operation environments. Some of these lubricants have HFC, CFC and ozone friendly refrigerants.

One of the most important parts of any big marine structure is the hydraulic chamber. There are a number of systems and processes that go on in this section. The lubricants that are used to protect the hydraulic are also meant to prevent deposit formation and corrosion. They also protect the machine from the harsh working conditions that may take place in the waters and ensure long oil and filter life and causes lesser environmental damage.

The above mentioned are only a few of the main parts of the marine machines. There are other structures that also require lubrication like- grease application, gear systems, air compressors and more. The components that are primarily use for the making of the machines are prone to rusting and corrosion. The designs are sometimes so intricate that if proper lubrication is not provided, it can hinder the performance of the machine itself. While that is necessary, it is also important to find a synthetic compressor oil for different parts that does not compromise on the environment.
